  • We wholeheartedly welcome the return of Sam Allardcye and his fantastic brand of football to the Premier League
  • Paul Ince's departure
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • Where are they know
  • Fantasy Football update
  • Premier League predictions
And there's more waffle in there too. You can subscribe to The Week in Football using iTunes by clicking here, if you want to subscribe to the RSS feed itself the URL is here, you can download the podcast directly here or you can listen from this page:

And remember, your comments and suggestions for the show are always welcome. Feel free to leave a comment here on the blog or email podcast@oleole.com.

And due to the way Christmas is falling this year there won't be a podcast next Thursday. However, given all the football that's on over the festive period we'll get ourselves together and get an episode recorded a few days afterwards.

So until then thanks for listening, I hope you and yours have a very happy Christmas. Talk to you soon.

The week in football - episode 77

Thursday, 20 November 08, 12:51 PM

Hello all, hope you had a good week in football. My week in football was quite poo, thanks for asking. Defeat for my teams (the one I support and the one I play for) has left me most unhappy with football but this week is a new week and who knows.

Anyway, on to this week's podcast and up for discussion this week are:

  • International friendlies and should clubs be compensated when players are injured on international duty (see: Arsenal + Theo Walcott)
  • What's wrong with Arsenal? Great one week, crap the next.
  • Italian football including this weekend's crunch game between Inter and Juventus
  • A brief look ahead to the Spanish fixtures
  • Premier League review, discussion and predictions

The week in football - episode 76

Thursday, 13 November 08, 11:47 AM

Hello Twifters,

football is much better this week than last week. For me anyway. Tom is somewhat unhappy at Liverpool losing to Spurs (again) but reckons he has discovered the worst player playing in England at the moment. Besides that we've got:

  • More Carling Cup reaction including Arsenal's kids and their win over Wigan, Chelsea's loss to Burnley (haha, Ray Wilkins), and the teams through to the next round
  • Gabriele from Italy on Jose Mourinho and the upcoming Rome derby
  • Luigi from Spain on Eto'o, Higuain and why Bernd Schuster's job at Real Madrid is under threat
  • We touch on Mark Hughes at Man City
  • Chris Morgan's filthy elbow on Barnsley's Iain Hume
  • Premier League preview and predictions

So, plenty to get your teeth into. And by teeth I mean ears.

The week in football - episode 75

Thursday, 06 November 08, 01:53 PM

Happy footballing Thursday to you all and welcome to another The Week in Football. On a personal level it's been a bit of crap week as far as football is concerned. But then you can't enjoy the good times as much unless you go through the bad, right?

On this week's show there's much to get through, such as:

  • Champions League review featuring the English clubs
  • Tom Thom(p)son's thoughts on Tony Adams' head
  • A look at La Liga
  • Gabriele's round up from Italy including Inter vs AC in the press
  • Fantasy Football round-up
  • Premier League predictions

And there's loads of other great stuff in there too. Well, maybe not loads. And maybe it's not great, but it's definitely stuff.

The week in football - episode 74

Thursday, 30 October 08, 02:29 PM

'Football is a funny old game', someone once said. Well, I'd like to find that person and stick a hammer up his arse and see if he still finds it funny when your team lets slip a two goal lead with just minutes to go. I realise the two things are barely related but there you go.

On this week's podcast we have the following for your aural delectation:

  • Me explaining why football is rubbish + Arsenal 4-4 Spurs discussions
  • Liverpool's win at the weekend over Chelsea
  • Fat Ronaldo
  • Fat Maradona
  • Udinese and Napoli top the table in Italy
  • Pedrag Mijatovic is making everyone laugh in Spain
  • Premier League predictions
  • Fantasy Football update

So, action packed as always.

The week in football - episode 71

Thursday, 09 October 08, 07:35 AM

Good day to you all, hope this finds you well and full of the joys of football. Well, some of you, at least. Ok, I think that only applies to Hull fans.

Nevertheless it's an action packed podcast this week despite we're in the middle of the 45th international break of this season so far. Coming up on this show:

  • We chat with OleOle's Harry Hotspur about what the hell is going on at Spurs, who sit bottom of the league after 7 games
  • Luigi talks about Barcelona's demolition of Atletico Madrid and tells us about two players we should be keeping an eye on in La Liga this season
  • Gabriele in Italy talks about Roma, Juventus and AC Milan and the poor starts they've made to the season

And there's the usual Premier League guff in there too, as well as some sensible words from Rio Ferdinand. No, really. The world's gone mad, I tell you.

Don't forget, you can subscribe to The Week in Football using iTunes by clicking here, if you want to subscribe to the RSS feed itself the URL is here, you can download the podcast directly here or you can listen from this page:

The week in football - episode 70

Thursday, 02 October 08, 11:37 AM

Good day to you all, hope you've had a good week in football since the last one. I haven't really. I went to see Arsenal play Hull and we lost. To Hull. At home. And we were utterly poo.

Still, there was plenty of beer and rum to banish the memories. Although the beer and rum would have been nice during the game too.

On this week's podcast:

  • Rob Styles and the penalty that wasn't
  • Sol Campbell's abuse by Spurs fans
  • A review of the midweek Champions League action
  • Gabriele on a class of Inter fan that is making their voice heard after the derby defeat
  • Luigi on the Barcelona derby and the trouble that happened at the game
  • Fantasy Football update
  • Plus our preview and predictions for this weekend's Premier League fixtures
